Osterville Garden Club members partnered with Cadet Troop 80730 in Mashpee, MA in earning their
Nurture the Earth - Plant Natives patch.
This program was created by the National Garden Club and encourages partnerships between Girl Scouts and our garden club by teaching the girls about native and invasive plants on Cape Cod.

Nurture the Earth - Plant Natives patch.
This program was created by the National Garden Club and encourages partnerships between Girl Scouts and our garden club by teaching the girls about native and invasive plants on Cape Cod.
Activities included:
1. Field trip to Long Pasture Wildlife Center in Cummaquid. Slide show presented by the Executive Director and guided outdoor walk to identify plants;
2. Presentation by a Cape Cod Master Gardener on native and invasive plants followed by a poster creation project to enable the girls to inform the public about the importance of nurturing and protecting native plants. Posters will be placed in public areas in the community;
3. Field trip to a OGC club member’s home garden of native plants. Cadets will be prepared to plan a native plants garden;
4. Cadets plant a native plants garden at their meeting place at Christ the King Church in Mashpee.
