September 13, 2021: “Planting an Heirloom Garden” John Forti, a nationally recognized garden lecturer, will give a slide show presentation on “The Heirloom Garden.” John is the Executive Director of Bedrock Gardens in Lee, NH, and was formerly Director of Horticulture for the Massachusetts Horticultural Society. He has appeared on the TV show, “Chronicle” several times and has won several national horticultural awards. Members may bring guests to this meeting. Teatime will follow the program.
October 4, 2021: Farmers Market, 12:00 – 12:45 PM Enjoy a Farmer’s Market from 12:00 to 12:45 pm when members will share and purchase produce, flowers, planters and herbs from their gardens, arts and crafts, jams, sauces, and more to benefit our club! “Cranberries 101” Our speaker is a member of the Cape Cod Cranberry Growers Association and will tune us in to what’s happening in our cranberry bogs winter, spring, summer and fall.
November 8, 2021: “Festive Designs for the Holidays!” Six OGC members will share fun and fabulous designs for Thanksgiving and Christmas including boxwood trees, an indoor wreath, outdoor décor, a seasonal centerpiece, and more. Don’t miss this informative, creative presentation by your OGC designer friends!! Designs to be auctioned off to lucky members. Teatime will follow the program.
February 7, 2022: (CANCELLED due to Covid) “Love Is In The Air!” (Special Event with the Garden Club of Hyannis) The Osterville and Hyannis garden clubs will celebrate love and share their talents and enthusiasm for this very special ‘Art in Bloom’ style event where teams of designers—one from each club—will create beautiful wedding, or engagement, designs for members from both clubs to enjoy! Details to follow. Soup Luncheon will begin at 11:30 AM. Teatime will follow the program.
March 7, 2022: 12:30 PM “Keeping Our Waters Plastic-Free” Our speaker is associated with the Marine Biological Laboratory in Woods Hole. Globally scientists estimate that about eight tons of plastic enters the ocean each year. How are micro-plastics impacting Cape Cod as a place to live and/or visit?Don’t miss this important program presented by our Conservation Committee. Teatime to follow the program.
April 4, 2022: “Look Ma No Flowers!” Deborah Trickett, the owner of The Captured Garden, is an award-winning, container garden designer who will create several designs using foliage only plants, to be auctioned off at the end of the meeting. She is a Massachusetts Certified Horticulturist and a frequent lecturer at the Boston Flower and Garden Show. Teatime and special recognition of visiting OGC presidents to follow the program
May 3, 2022, 1:30 PM: “Wintherthur Museum and Country Estate” Public and guests invited to attend for a fee of $10) Meredith Graves, lead floral designer at Wintherthur Museum and Country Estate from 2002 to 2017, will share a powerpoint presentation on the fascinating history of Wintherthur, including its origins and stories about who created this magnificent estate and surrounding gardens. She will also create a floral arrangement to be auctioned after the program.
